Privacy policy
Siansa is a music player for your own music server. It has no account with us, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We (the makers of Siansa) don't run any server that receives your data. Everything Siansa sends goes to services you set up or switch on, listed below.
Your music server
Siansa connects to the server you enter (Navidrome or another OpenSubsonic server, or Emby). It sends your user name and password (or a login token) to that server, and asks it for your music, covers, lyrics and playlists. It tells your server what you play, what you like (favourites), and which playlists you make or change. Your server is run by you or by whoever gave you the account; their privacy rules apply to it.
Optional services you switch on
- AudioMuse-AI (your own server, if you add it): song ids for sound-alike songs, mixes and song paths, and the text you type into "search by sound".
- OpenRouter (if you add an API key, for AI mix titles): the vibe's description, the day and time, the kind of audio device (for example "car Bluetooth"), and the titles and artists of your last 20 plays. Your library is never sent. OpenRouter's privacy policy applies.
- Last.fm and ListenBrainz (or a compatible server) if you connect them: the songs you play (title, artist, album, time), to keep your listening history there.
- Weather for "Situation" (only if you turn it on and allow location): your approximate location, rounded to about 10 km, is sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get the weather. Your location isn't stored or sent anywhere else. Whether you're on the move comes from the phone's step counter (the "physical activity" permission), read on the phone only; nothing about it leaves the phone.
- Artist photos: for artists that aren't in your library, only the artist's name is sent to Deezer's public API (api.deezer.com) to find a photo and similar artists.
- Casting: when you cast to a TV or speaker, Google Cast or DLNA on your network receives the song's address and its details to play it.
On your phone
- Your settings, server passwords (encrypted with Android's keystore), play history, downloads and caches stay on your phone. Uninstalling Siansa removes them.
- Siansa keeps a log for finding problems. It stays on the phone. It's only shared if you choose to share or send it yourself (for example to report a bug); it can contain your server addresses but never passwords or keys.
- When the Siansa beta repository is used in the F-Droid app, this server counts how many times each version is downloaded and how many devices check the repository each day. To count a device once, its internet address is scrambled with a key that is thrown away at the end of the day; only the day's totals are kept, never an address.
- If you use Report a problem in the app, the words you write and the whole log are sent to this server. The log is kept privately on this server and in a private GitHub repository that only the Siansa team can open. It may be read with the help of AI tools (such as Claude) to find the problem. It is used only to fix the problem and is deleted afterwards. A short note with your words, app version and phone model is posted publicly in the beta testers repository on GitHub. The log can include your server's address and what you played, but never passwords, tokens or keys.
- Backups you make in Siansa are files you save and keep yourself.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to reach your servers and to know when you're offline or on mobile data.
- Notifications and foreground service (media playback): to keep playing with the screen off and show the player controls.
- Wi-Fi multicast: to find Cast and DLNA speakers and TVs on your network.
- Approximate location and physical activity: only for "Situation", only after you turn it on and allow them.
Beta sign-up on this website
If you ask for a beta invite on this website, we keep the answers you give (email, how you'll install Siansa, which server you use, and your phone model if you give it) to invite you and write to you about the beta. We don't store your IP address, use cookies or analytics, or share the list with anyone, except that Google Play needs the email of your Google account to give you access. If you're approved for F-Droid, we also send you the beta's private download address. We delete the list and change the address when the beta ends. To be removed sooner, write to the address below.
Children
Siansa isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone.
